“I learnt more in 6 hours than I have in 20years. The skill and knowledge that yourself, Margaret, Meagan and Dr Ryan brought not only changed the way I think about myself but also the way others may perceive me… I feel so much more liberated and confident to do what needs to be done and not apologise for that.”

Feedback from a participant in the first VIC workshop, held in May 2016:

“This was one of the best workshops I have been to in terms of the takeaways and also the structure – Andrea, you didn’t just stand and talk to us, you allowed it to be interactive and the exercises and videos were something new and different and really shook things up in a good way…”

“Today’s session was brilliant and so engaging. I loved that the workshop provided frameworks and pointers that were simple to understand and implement in a day to day situation”

“Andrea provides fantastic insight into the subtle ways we naturally undermine our authority. The strategies she presents to overcome these were immediately helpful”

“Andrea is a wonderful teacher. I now have a framework for approaching a range of challenging situations. Andrea is inspiring, encouraging and makes confronting issues instantly manageable”

Course Overview

‘Communicating with Authority’ is one of NAWO’s most popular professional development programs offered exclusively to members*.

Presented by the inimitable Andrea Clarke of Career CEO, this one-day workshop is designed to help professionals communicate with more authority when engaging with key internal and external stakeholders. How we speak, interact and present to colleagues and clients can undermine our natural authority. Communicating with Authority offers strategies and techniques to manage a range of challenging communication issues. It also generates thought around dressing with authority for the workplace.

Who should attend?

This is a core foundation course for any professional who is required to present to colleagues, clients and the CEO, or anyone pursuing a leadership position with the business community.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Feel greater confidence in preparing and delivering presentations
  • Manage nerves and anxiety effectively
  • Recognise patterns of speech and body language that undermine natural authority and replace them with authoritative patterns
  • Organise and deliver information effectively in meetings and presentations
  • Implement step-by-step rehearsal techniques that enhance performance
