We love participating in and sharing some of the great initiatives NAWO’s Corporate Members are implementing to develop their pipeline of female talent! NAWO’s Chair, Angela Tatlis, was recently invited to be a panelist for NAWO Silver Corporate Member Chobani’s annual Women’s Leadership Event. Thanks to Chobani’s Jessica Vigilante for providing us with this article about the event…
On Thursday 11th May Chobani Australia hosted our 2017 Women’s Leadership Event at the Brighton Savoy, a picturesque setting overlooking Brighton beach.
Chobani welcomed Margie Warrell, A bestselling Author and Forbes Columnist as our keynote speaker. Margie had some amazing stories to share including about her time working with NASA and inspiring us to find our own courage and take risks.
The afternoon involved getting everyone creative, designing what they represented in their own personal brand on a Chobani tub. We’d like to thank Karen Barr, Executive Coach, Trainer and Diversity & Inclusion Consultant for helping us bring this to life.
Following the ‘design your brand’ session, we were graced by the presence of three amazing women on our moderated panel, Justine Flynn (Co-founder and Director of Brand and People at Thankyou), Chris Khor (Recruiter & Entrepreneur) & Angela Tatlis (Chair of National Association of Women in Operations). Through sharing their personal and candid stories they illustrated how sheer determination, owning your brand and taking risks can help us achieve our goals. The panel, chaired by Sarah Hochholzer and Lyn Radford closed the event with question time from the group.
The event was a huge success and we are so grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from such amazing women in Australia!
Background about the Women in Leadership Program
The focus on Women in Leadership commenced in New York 2015 and has been supported by Hamdi Ulukaya (Chobani’s Founder) and the leadership teams ever since. Chobani is both proud and committed to continuing this initiative on an annual basis and this year our theme is ‘Live Your Brand’. We have designed a program that will focus on personal brand as we know that many career opportunities are based on ‘who you know’. What you’ve delivered is sometimes secondary. Our aim is to support our female workers to; become greater versions of their authentic self, be more courageous, speak up and have a voice and say yes to new opportunities.
Developing a strong personal brand is simply clarifying and articulating the foundations of who you are, what you stand for, your strengths and achievements – we all know these deep down but articulating them and confidently expressing/communicating these attributes and achievements is not always easy or comfortable.
Our Chobani Women’s event is our commitment to developing our females workers (the males get development also) both now & into the future.
