NAWO is proud to announce its membership of the Australian Gender Equality Council (AGEC).

AGEC is Australia’s first independent, national body dedicated to driving gender equality. It is committed to creating the same rights and opportunities for women when it comes to pay, superannuation, the workplace and society.

NAWO forms part of AGEC’s member network of over 500,000 women and girls and will work with AGEC on their agenda to act as an authoritative and independent voice and to develop research driven policy for gender equality in Australia.

To mark the launch, AGEC has released its campaign video, titled “It’s Time.” The video acknowledges the work and efforts of the suffragettes and the feminist movement of the 1970s. Change is again in the wind represented by a swell of momentum across the globe which is becoming known as the ‘third wave’. AGEC is asking Australian women and men to help fund this message onto mainstream media in Australia. The video can be viewed on YouTube at or on the AGEC website,

NAWO National Chair Megan McCracken said:  “As founding members of AGEC, NAWO is pleased to support the launch of their ‘It’s Time’ campaign.  We urge our members and supporters to get behind this movement and help drive a cultural shift in Australia’s attitudes and importantly take actions towards gender equality.”
