Wow! NAWO’s latest event in Queensland focused on ‘Improvement Goals’ and was fantastic! One of our Qld Members Davina Shearer, Diversity and Inclusion Adviser at Incitec Pivot, and Qld Committee Member, led attendees on the journey of being able to identify our goals, the barriers to achieving them and ways through to success.
Davina introduced attendees to the Harvard University Immunity to Change framework and provided guidance around how to define our ‘one big goal’. She shared the ‘Immunity Map Cheat Sheet’ template which helps analyse our objectives, and the key steps to overturn the assumptions which hinder us in achieving the goal we have chosen. Participants discussed those common sub-conscious irrational beliefs that can hinder success and Davina left the group feeling inspired and as though she had shared insight into her own challenges, goals and passions.
From the inspirational and engaging speaker, the honest and brave self-reflection required to choose a goal to analyse, and the many opportunities to network – it was a thought provoking and interesting afternoon. The audience left with some valuable lessons to put into practice in their professional, and personal lives.
Many thanks to Incitec Pivot for their generous hosting of this event and write up by Toni Dugdale, Community Relations & Communication Advisor, Caltex Refineries QLD and QLD NAWO Committee Member.
In 2020 we continue to donate to charities in lieu of gifts to the many speakers who give their time & expertise at our events. We are thrilled to be supporting @TBBforTalent. Skilled refugees need jobs, while employers around the world need talent. @TBBforTalent connects the 2. pic.twitter.com/ESdPs9mykU
