Kathy Hirschfeld has over 14 years’ experience as a non-executive director of listed company boards (ASX, NZX, NYSE) as well as government and private company boards. These board roles draw on her engineering background and strong track record of leading complex & hazardous manufacturing businesses to create value. Kathy has extensive experience in leading people; managing safety & business risk; strategy and setting risk appetite; remuneration and incentive processes. Kathy is an advocate of ‘show, don’t tell’ and believes that directors need to spend time out in the business to see the culture. Her boardroom experience includes capital raising, debt refinancing, acquisitions, takeover response and CEO succession.

Her executive experience with BP encompassed leadership roles in oil refining, logistics, exploration and production located in Australia, UK and Turkey.

Kathy was recognised in the AFR/Westpac 100 Women of Influence 2015, by Engineers Australia as one of Australia’s Top 100 Most Influential Engineers 2015 and as an Honorary Fellow in 2014. She is a member of Chief Executive Women and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Academy of Engineering and Technology. Kathy is also an executive mentor/coach with Merryck & Co.

In 2019 Kathy was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to engineering, to women, and to business.
