Leading Inclusively with NAWO in 2019! FULLY BOOKED

Join us on 12 February 2019 to hear from two of Australia’s exceptional female corporate leaders on the important topic of Building and Leading Diverse Teams – NAWO’s new and 6th Learning Priority

Research has shown that the business benefits of diverse teams are reliant on effective leadership, with the ability to unite and leverage the talents of employees from different backgrounds, disciplines, cultures and generations. In fact the more diverse the team and the more inclusively it is led, the greater the prospect of high performance, diversity of thought and superior business outcomes.

However, inclusive leadership is not always a skill that comes naturally and diverse teams can be harder to manage. A diverse team may be more likely to question each other, their work processes and leader, and badly managed they risk becoming dysfunctional.

NAWO is introducing its 6th learning priority “Building and Leading Diverse Teams” to help frontline leaders bring their A game to this challenge and reap the rewards.

Our speakers

NAWO is thrilled to have Michelle Jablko, Chief Financial Officer of ANZ, to share her reflections on leading inclusively. Michelle’s appointment to this high profile role in 2016 created something of a media storm, which raised questions around the transferability of skills in highly technical roles. It also highlighted ANZ CEO, Shayne Elliott’s desire to build a high performing and more diverse leadership team.

Michelle is open about her learnings from this experience and her transition from investment banking to managing the finances of one of Australia’s largest financial services providers.

She will talk about the importance of left field transitions for women in their careers, and how this can actually change the playing field with respect to the breadth of the talent pool, and her reflections on being a successful female banker in a male dominated industry. Michelle will also share what she considers in forming her own teams. How does she foster diversity in a traditionally homogenous culture?

Our second guest speaker is Michelle Redfern, Founder of Advancing Women in Business and Sport.

Michelle will talk about how she helps leaders act inclusively – what this means, and the key ingredients for success.

Hear about Michelle’s experience in working across various operational sectors, to specifically increase management capacity to lead diverse teams effectively.
