GABRIELLE WESTLAKE

Plant Manager, Campbell Arnott's

I grew up in Hobart, Tasmania and moved to Melbourne in 2002 to study Food Science & Nutrition at Deakin University. After I graduated, I started questioning whether I had made the right decision and what I wanted to do with my life and considered going back to study nursing. While looking for jobs, I came across a Research & Development opportunity with a global food company and thought, 'What have I got to lose? I may as well apply'. I was successful and in February 2005 I embarked on a daunting move to Shepparton to work for Campbell’s Soup as a Food Technologist. I was worried about moving to a regional town and had told myself 'just get a year of experience and then look for a job back in Melbourne'.

Well, 2017 and I am still living in Shepparton and cannot be more thankful for the opportunities this has opened up both professionally and personally. Over the past 12 years, I have worked in a variety of roles based at the plant in Shepparton, including developing new product lines and process improvement roles. In 2012 I was given the opportunity to diversify my career and moved into plant operations as a Manufacturing Manager. I am now Plant Manager and enjoy life in Shepparton with my husband and two children.

An anthem that will continue to be sung and legacy that won’t be forgotten. Thank you Helen Reddy. #IAmWoman #inspiration #genderequality #australianwomen pic.twitter.com/1lEyykFTGl
