KATIE TULLY

Team Leader Ore Preparation, Port Kembla Steelworks, BlueScope

Katie Tully is currently a Shift Team Leader in Ore Preparation Port Kembla, NSW.

Katie has been with BlueScope for 19 years, starting as an Electrical trainee and currently looking after a team of 10 shift operators. She is responsible for the team’s performance on safety and achieving the business production targets. She achieves this by training and leading the team harmoniously to deliver the business outcomes.

Katie came from an all-girl boarding school in Goulbourn to the Port Kembla Steelworks Apprentice training shop. She completed her apprenticeship and worked in the electrical team at No. 6 Blast Furnace. She then transitioned to the production team as a Systems Controller. More recently she was appointed the Shift Team Leader at Ore Preparation, where the iron ore and feed is prepared to make molten Iron in the Blast Furnace.

Katie has shown resilience in her style and skills throughout her career. She was involved in the closure of No. 6 Blast Furnace, the stave exchange repair at No.5 Blast Furnace and a significant Operations team restructure at Ore Preparation.

Katie is known for her ability to flex her communication style to achieve effective communication to a wide variety of personalities and capabilities. She places a lot of importance on team harmony and how that harmony enables the team to perform at its best.
