Warehouse Shift Manager – Pernod Ricard Winemakers

Narelle has been living in the Barossa for 39 years, with both her parents working in the wine industry.

Narelle graduated from Nuriootpa High School in 1993. Her varied career history started when she became a nanny for a family in Adelaide for over a year. She then had a change of heart for this career path and went to work in administration for SARDI (SA Research & Development Industry) for several years.

Narelle commenced in the role of Sales Administration position with AQ Printworks (now CCL) in 1995 where she progressed to Business Development Manager. She worked for AQ for almost 7 years before she left when her twins were born. It is worth noting she was the first woman at AQ to go on maternity leave (with her first child) and return to the work force. It is an understatement to say they were surprised she did in fact return full time.

After having an 18 month break to raise her 3 children, Narelle returned to the workforce in 2004 at Grant Burge Wines as a Packaging & Warehouse Administration where she covered anything from procurement to planning and warehousing.

In 2006 Narelle became the Business Development Manager for Integrated People (now Programmed), where she quickly progressed to Branch Manager running the Tanunda branch. It was during this time that she developed a life changing passion for Human Resources.

After seeing this role through for several years, she commenced studying for her Diploma in Human Resources, whilst managing a full time HR Manager role at Novotel Barossa.

In 2012 Narelle commenced work for Pernod Ricard Winemakers as HR Business Partner. She remained in the HR Business Partner role for over 6 years, during which time she acted as HR Manager for a short term and completed an exciting 3-month secondment at PRW Napa Valley.

In 2018, Narelle was longing for a change in her career and when the opportunity arose for the Warehouse Shift Manager position, she took a leap of faith and took on the challenge and today believes this has been the single largest major shift in her career.

Narelle is a passionate advocate for female football, sitting on the Barossa Light and Gawler Women’s Football Association and is the Women’s Football Coordinator at her local football club. She played football for the first time at the ripe age of 43 so she could play footy with her daughter. Her daughter now plays in the SANFL Women’s league and she loves nothing more than watching her play.

Narelle is married to Danny and has 3 teenage children. She enjoys watching her kids play football, spending quiet time in the garden, weekends away camping with her family & friends and loves a good drop of Steingarten or Reserve Riesling.
