NAZ ASKER

Head of Execution and Enablement, BHP Billiton Limited

I began my career as an Industrial Chemist at BP refinery, Brisbane which led to a 2 year secondment as a Research Chemist in the US. Upon returning to Australia, I pursued opportunities in the Commercial side of the business. In 2002, I was seconded to BP London and was responsible for commercial optimization of one of BP’s refineries in the UK and later on worked as part of the BP Central Refining Strategy and Planning Team in London. I returned to Australia in 2006 and held the positions of Production and Planning Manager followed by Business Development Manager at BP refinery in Brisbane.

In 2010, I joined British Gas as Project Portfolio Manager and soon thereafter as Exploration and Appraisal Asset Manager. In 2012, I moved to Origin Energy and held the position of Group Manager Projects. After a short career break in 2016, I joined BHP as Integrated Operation Manager.

The types of roles that attract me the most are those with large problems to solve. I love to drive the business to sustainably improve the future through process and people. Parallel to my career, with the help of my husband I manage a busy family life with two kids.
