Vice President – Human Resources, Rio Tinto Iron Ore

Nicky Firth was appointed vice president, Human Resources for Rio Tinto’s Iron Ore business in August 2016. In this role, Nicky has accountability for Human Resources and Communities.

Nicky is also a member of the Iron Ore Executive Committee.

Nicky has worked in the mining and resources sector for more than 20 years and has held a number of senior HR roles during her 15 years with Rio Tinto. Nicky was most recently global head Talent, Development and Organisation Effectiveness. Nicky’s HR leadership roles in Rio Tinto have spanned Energy, Aluminium, Diamonds and Copper.

During her career, Nicky has worked extensively with operations and has experience spanning HSE and community relations from prior roles.  Nicky began her career with a Human Resources consulting firm before working with WMC Resources and in the Oil and Gas industry. 

Nicky holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with majors in HR and IR.
