We’re also excited to celebrate and honour those impactful women in the Pilbara community with the Newman International Women’s Day BHP Award. The awards ceremony will be held after the panel discussion and our committee members will be participating as judges.

Our Panel:

Arina Aoina: Arina is a respected community representative and passionate advocate for women and families. Arina is a Manager at Newman Women’s Shelter, where she provides important leadership to the team by ensuring the shelter’s critical service remains supportive to the needs of women and children in care. Arina is no stranger to challenge and often leads her team through crises and makes sure everyone in the team feels supported and empowered to face them.

Shanna Stroud: Shanna is the National Indigenous Business Development Principal for C-Res, advocating for the longevity and viability of Traditional Owner and Indigenous Business across all of BHP Local Buying Program operations. Surviving a childhood trauma meant that Shanna found her voice and learned how to use it as a young girl. After spending years navigating a male-dominated industry as an Indigenous woman, she became passionate about supporting women from all walks of life. Now, she is unapologetic about fighting for what she believes in and is passionate about.

Jodi Wright: Jodi is currently the Acting Mining Manager at BHP Newman Operations. She has extensive industry and leadership experience. Having worked abroad in some very challenging contexts and environments, she has a keen sense for finding solutions to complex problems and empowering her team members to grow and thrive. Jodi is passionate about empowering people, whether at work as a leader or in her capacity as a volunteer across different local committees.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Em and Kimba from Newman radio 6NEW 92.9FM.
